“Who are you?…”
Are you your body? Your mind?
Are you the thoughts you have, or are you your beliefs?
Or, are you everything you’ve done and achieved in your life up to this moment, or maybe you are this very moment?
Or could you be potential, could you be everything that you hope to become?
Well, to help you discover who you are, today I invite you to join me on a journey that begins just moments before the beginning of time itself.
Yes, here we are 13.7 billions years in the past.
There is no time, no space and all we can see is this small, incredibly hot, dense, point.
And within that one tiny point, the entire universe exists.
All space, all time, all matter and all energy.
Every single galaxy, every star, every planet, every ocean and all life that’s already lived, all life that is living and all life that has yet to be.
And yes, somewhere within that tiny point is you.
And any moment now it will all begin. From nothing, there will be something.
Any second now from the unimaginable, there will be imaginable and from no-existence, existence will emerge.
It’s begun. Time’s begun.
There’s an immediate appearance of space everywhere in the universe.
Within a split-second the universe expands at a ferocious rate, it keeps doubling in size 10 times, 30times, 70 times, 90 times.
Quarks and electrons form in large numbers. Nuclear, electromagnetic and gravitational forces are formed.
Quarks and anti-quarks destroy each other the moment they make contact. But some quarks are surviving and they’re combining to form protons and neutrons.
After 1-second electrons and positrons dominate the mass of the universe.
As they crash and destroy each other, they free up an energy in the form of photons.
We’re now 3 minutes in and for the next 17 minutes, will witness spectacular nuclear fusions between protons and neutrons.
These will form the simple elements of hydrogen, helium and lithium.
Wow, quite a start.
But let’s fast-forward now through the next 300,000 years. The universe is gradually cooling down and the density is falling.
All we can see is a hydrogen and helium fog, that has engulfed the universe and we’re now about to enter the dark age.
There’s no light of course, because there’s no stars to provide it. Dark matter is dominating the universe and nothing much happens for another 400 million years.
So come with me, as we transcend through 400 million years of space and time in an instant… and here we witness the birth of the first stars and galaxies.
We see the very first light.
Let’s continue. We speed through a further 100 million years, to enjoy, for a brief moment, the creation of our Milky Way galaxy.
Then, we take a massive leap forward through another 8.6 billion years to see the forming our solar system.
And now one final push, through the next 100 million years to witness the start of something spectacular and close to our hearts.
We made it, there it is right in front of us…
Let’s catch our breath for a moment, that’s quite a journey we’ve been on. We’ve already covered 9 billion years since time began.
But it’s been worth it. Because here we are, watching the birth of our home, our world.
It’s strange to think that one day, in around four a half billion years, you’ll be living there.
Ok, no more time to waste.
Let’s get on to earth and see where the time takes us.
First stop, 700 million years later. Where the first life appeared in the form of single-celled organisms such as bacteria.
Was it the first life ever created in the entire universe? Who can say? But, in our world, the first life has to be the most significant event in our history.
Let’s speed up again now, through another billion years – which is how long it took for single-celled organisms to evolve into multicellular life and then through a further 2 billion years to see the first arthropods.
Faster, let’s keep going through millions and millions of years to see…
the first fish, the first land plants and the first flowers.
Then we’ll see the first mammals, then the first birds and the first bees.
And now, let’s catch our breath again, because here we are at the start of another major milestone.
Around 13.7 billion years after the universe started. Almost 4 and a half billion years since the creation of earth and we can finally witness the beginning of our time, the beginning of the modern human.
Our first ancestors. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
Ok, we’re nearly there, just 200,000 years remaining.
You ready? Let’s go…
We start by going through massive climate change in the world
We witness advancement of speech, mass migration and the birth of trade.
Keep going, only 50,000 years left.
We see us burying the dead for the first time, us making clothes and developing complex hunting techniques.
We’re now in the stone age, but keep going we’ve just 33,000 years left.
We rush pass the beginning of agriculture.
We see how writing developed to help express language.
We’re so close, just 4,000 years left and we witness the start of civilisation.
Passing the great inventions of radio and then of flight.
Straight through the first world war and the discovery of penicillin.
We witness the great depression and world war 2.
Keep going, keep going, one final push and…
Here you are, you made it: Your birth.
Everything, from the beginning of space and time, through to the worlds creation.
From the evolution of the modern human, through 6 to 10 billion of your ancestors all meeting by chance, all happening to fall in love and all choosing to create life.
Everything, everything has led to this moment.
Your moment to be alive.
And here you are, just born, barely a few minutes old… but 13.7 billion years in the making.
And as you lay there, you have no worries or concerns. You have no fears, you hold no opinions of how the world should be.
You have no thoughts on what you deserve or don’t deserve. You hold no judgement on how you should look or what your intelligence should be.
You have no self-imposed limits on what you can achieve. You hold no beliefs of what you’re capable of or not.
You just are. You’re unlimited potential.
But now, let’s start moving again to the present time.
And as we start moving through your life, you’ll discover how your beliefs we’re formed. Notice your home, your neighbourhood and the society you were bought up in.
Hear the voices of your parents discussing religion, justice, politics, work and money.
Pay attention to the opinions of your teaches, your friends, the media and the government.
Note the traditions you’ve followed and all those experiences you’ve both enjoyed and endured.
Lets’ speed it up now, we’re nearly back to this very moment in time.
And as you rush back to now, you’ll notice the good times, the bad times, the recessions and the redundancies.
The joy, the arguments, the love, the hurt, the fear, the hope and the holidays.
The successes, the failures, the boredom, the optimism, the pain and the closeness.
The times you’ve been let down, the times where you felt nothing could stop and the times where you couldn’t see anyway out…
All of them, all of them… have fused together to create your mental view of how you interpret the world, as you rejoin yourself right in this very moment of time.
And here you are right now, listening to my voice.
Living your life in complete harmony with your beliefs formed in your past.
Beliefs that you have formed through the opinions of others and the events that you have either experienced or witnessed.
Beliefs that decide your health, your life expectancy, your relationships, your parenting style, how much money you earn, what job you can have, your knowledge, where you live and what car you drive.
Beliefs that regulate your emotions.
What makes you happy or sad, upset or angry, fearful or confident, hate or love.
Beliefs that affect the thoughts you create, the decisions you make and the experiences you have.
Beliefs that you use to decide if new information you receive is incorporated, or not.
Beliefs that shaped your life yesterday, that are shaping your life today and will continue to shape your life in the future.
Why? Because we’re all living out our lives as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
We have our set of beliefs and because we always want to prove ourselves right, we continuously collect biased evidence to support our beliefs.
Then, of course, the biased evidence reinforces and deepens our beliefs even further.
And the more we reinforce any belief, no matter if it’s true or not. No matter if it’s limiting or not, the more influence it has over our lives and the harder it is for us to change.
Please remember this.
Your life will never be any better than you believe is possible and your life will never be any worse than you believe is possible.
Because whatever you believe is possible, is your reality. You will never live a life that’s unrealistic for you.
And the secret is this:
If you want anything in your life that you believe is unrealistic for you to have, achieve or experience. Then you need to work on your beliefs first, until you believe it is realistic. Then you go and achieve it.
That’s your job. To change the unrealistic to the realistic, in your mind.
Because you will never achieve or have anything that you did not believe was realistic in the first place.
That’s the law of reality….
and it can never be broken.
Look, let me show.
Join me as we run with me through time again. But this time we’re going through your future.
We’re going to a time near the end of your life. We’re going to meet your future self, in bed, a couple of minutes before you wake up… on your final birthday.
You ready? Don’t worry about knowing where you’re going – hardly anyone takes the time to think about that in their life anyway.
Just follow me. Let’s go. Run…
keep running through your life.
You’ll notice, as the years flash by, that nothing much changes.
Keep running, keep running.
Yes, some years are better than others…
Keep running, keep running.
But you see they’re all very similar. Similar lifestyle, similar holidays, similar amount of money, similar ups and similar downs.
Keep running, keep running we’re almost there.
The same frustrations, the same habits, the same mistakes keep flashing by.
Take a moment to look around the bedroom, what is it like?
Is it a big room, small room, do you recognise anything? How is it decorated?
Walk over and stand by the bed and just take a moment to watch your future self sleeping.
How old do you imagine you are?
Your future self is now starting to wake up. And you smile.
Now, I would like you to ask your future self this one question:
What’s YOUR biggest regret. What is the one thing YOU wish YOU would have gone for when YOU were younger?
What is it that would have made YOUR life more fulfilled and rewarding?
Let’s pause a moment, the answer will come to mind.
And as it does, promise yourself you’re going to do it.
Promise yourself right now – that you’re going to give it shot.
And as you promise yourself that you will, you find yourself instantly back to your present time.
Your back here now.
It’s my hope that our journey today has opened your eyes to the undeniable truth that…
YOU are a miracle.
You are not separate from the universe – you’re a living, breathing, thinking and loving part of the universe.
You’ve waited 13.7 billion years for the universe to evolve and make your life possible – you owe it to yourself to live your life to the full.
And think about everything that’s happened, from nothing, to now.
Think about your 6 to 10 billion ancestors.
6 to 10 billion people, that all had to meet by chance.
They all had to mate, they all had to have successful pregnancies.
It’s absolutely mind-blowing that you know what being alive actually is, what that even feels like.
It really puts our stupid fears and false limiting beliefs into perspective, doesn’t it?
And you know what your purpose in life is now.
Don’t let yourself down, you promised yourself.
Don’t get to that last birthday with any feeling of regret.
Don’t wake up on your last birthday wondering if you could have done more.
You have the universe in you, you have genius in you – refuse to let your mind destroy that.
For 13.7 billion years the entire universe has conspired to give you all the thoughts, emotions, senses and consciousness you need to live a joyful, inspiring, fulfilled, rewarding, present and FREE life.
You want to start your own business – do it. You want to publish a book – do it. You want to spend more time with your family – do it. You want to help children – do it. You want to help animals – do it. Whatever it is for you, do it.
Because anything less than giving everything you’ve got, to live the life you want and deserve, is cheating yourself and the universe.
So start living your life to the fullest now.
Because this week, these days, this ‘NOW’ is going to pass anyway.
So decide that you’re going to make this ‘NOW’ a Super ‘NOW’.
